WE NEED YOU NOW MORE THAN EVER BEFORE.
We need your awareness!
Most of us don’t have to worry about where we’ll sleep tonight. We have a place to call home. But that’s not the case for everyone. Last year, in Polk County alone, nearly 3,000 youth were homeless.
We are asking you to join us in doing something to change that by supporting Reggie’s Sleepout, which will be held Oct. 29 at Drake Stadium. As honorary chairs for this event, we are looking for your participation and financial support.
The Sleepout is named after Reggie Kelsey, who aged out of the foster care system in February of 2001, became homeless and was found dead in the Des Moines River three months later. This event raises awareness and funds that assist the homeless and hungry in Central Iowa.
We need your help!
Growing up, we were both blessed to live in small communities that offered strong support systems, ensuring that no child slipped through the cracks into homelessness. Families and the community pitched in to make sure every child had a home. Living in a larger community takes many more to ensure no child or young adult is homeless – this is why we feel so passionate about this cause! Even though we are a large community – we act as a small community when it comes to helping those who need our help!
By supporting Reggie’s Sleepout, you will help Iowa Homeless Youth Centers (IHYC) build a stronger safety net for the children of this community. IHYC provides shelter and services to reduce homelessness and give young people, ages 16-25, a chance to chase their dreams.
We need your support!
Please help us build awareness for this important issue in our community. Consider making a financial contribution and joining us at the Sleepout.
Thank you for taking the time to consider this worthy event. We are committed to ensuring IHYC can continue their support of services. We know that IHYC and Reggie’s Sleepout make a difference in helping the children and young adults at risk in our community. Now, we need your help, your support and your awareness!
Sincerely,
